Students in Microsoft IT Academies benefit from world-class Microsoft curriculum and software tools to tackle real-world challenges in the classroom. In the first part, students will learn to use Microsoft Word 2016 interface, commands, and features to create, enhance, customize, share and create complex documents, and publish them. In the second part, students will learn to use Microsoft PowerPoint 2016 interface, commands, and features to create, enhance, customize, and deliver presentations. In the third part, students will learn to use the basic features of Publisher 2016 to create, customize, and publish a publication.
This course can help prepare students for the Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) in Word and/or PowerPoint. |

Certification ExamsStudents must score a 700 to receive certification.
Students will have the opportunity to test for certification 2-3 times during the semester in class. If they fail the certification exam, they will be able to retake the test as many times as needed after/before school. GradingMajor Assignments:
Test/Quiz= 60% Minor Assignments: Classwork/Projects= 40% Google ClassroomAssignments, quizes and test will be accessed and turned in through Google Classroom.

VoCATS ExamStudents who pass both MS Word and MS PowerPoint Certification Tests do not have to take the final exam. Students will be given a 100 as an exam grade. If a student does not pass both certification tests, then he or she will be required to take the final exam. This exam is 100 questions and is given by the state of North Carolina. This will be used as your exam grade and is required.
